Common reasons
Banks may decline when the commercial story is unclear or outside their risk appetite.
Examples can include insufficient evidence of business activity, complex ownership, higher-risk countries or sectors, unexplained source of funds, unrealistic transaction projections, inconsistent documents or a product the bank does not support.
Preparation
Answer foreseeable questions before the application is submitted.
Prepare the business model, counterparties, countries, transaction profile, owner background and supporting evidence. A concise, specific explanation is usually stronger than a generic business plan.
After a decline
Understand what can be learned before applying again.
Where possible, determine whether the issue was documentation, eligibility, risk appetite or simply the bank’s internal policy. Repeating the same profile at many banks without changes can waste time.
Guarantees
Be cautious with guaranteed-account promises.
No external provider controls a bank’s compliance decision. Treat guaranteed approval claims carefully, especially where the business or owner profile has not been reviewed.
